Why Volunteer?

As a nonprofit 501(c)(3) , Second Mission Alliance relies heavily on volunteer work to keep our animals happy and healthy. We are always looking to bring new members to our team! Whether you can dedicate a few hours to a few days, every bit of help counts and is just as important and appreciated by the animals!

Volunteer FAQ

– How old do I have to be to volunteer? As of now, our minimum age for volunteers is 18.

– What are good times to visit the farm? After reviewing your volunteer application, we will reach out regarding what days/times that you listed yourself as available to pair you with a senior volunteer(s) and to join us on a “get to know us” day! If you aren’t interested in volunteering but would like to give us a visit, please find our email under “contact us” and we would love to coordinate a time.

– What should I wear ? We always recommend that you wear clothing you don’t mind getting dirty or damaged. Wear what is comfortable for you but be mindful of the weather and that it is a working farm with working animals. Long pants are recommended and clothes toed shoes are required.

– What should I bring? With most if not all volunteer work being done outside we recommend you always bring water, a snack, bug spray and sunscreen.

– What should I expect? Volunteer work varies widely and after you fill out your application we will be more informed on what work would be best suited to you! Work that is needed varies from fixing fence lines, cleaning tack, brushing horses, community outreach etc.

– Where do I park? You can find our main parking area after entering the farm, keeping to the left, until you reach the front pasture and stalls.

– How much does it cost to visit the farm? Absolutely nothing!

If you have a specific skill set outside of the typical volunteer duties or are looking to partner with us on a specific project, please reach out to us via the contact page! We are always looking for volunteers who can donate their time and expertise with: web development, photography, social media, event coordination, etc. !
